First Lady, Auxilia Mnangangwa recently officiated at a
tree planting ceremony in honour of the founder of Sharon
Cohen School, the late Mr Victor Eric Cohen.
Along with the First Lady was Chitungwiza
Central Hospital (CCH) Chief Executive Officer Dr
Obadiah Moyo who was in attendance to witness the
ceremony. Sharon Cohen is a school for mentally challenged
children with special needs and is situated in Chitungwiza.
The school was opened in 1980 by the Cohen
family after realization of the plight of children with
disabilities.
The First Lady donated satchels, groceries and
blankets to the school and said she greatly appreciated
the role played by teachers at the school and gave them a
blanket each.
“I will never tire from championing the interests
of vulnerable communities. I love children. Children
need to be natured and protected,” said Amai Mnangagwa
adding that is the duty of every citizen to help
other people in need rather than wait for Government.
